Aloha Petroleum exec apologizes for H-1 incident

Advertiser Staff

Aloha Petroleum Chief Executive Officer Richard Parry today issued this statement regarding the spill involving one of the company's trucks that shut down the H-1 freeway between Kapolei and Kunia for hours:

"One of our tanker trucks experienced a mechanical failure this morning and spilled approximately 2,500 gallons of gasoline on the H-1 Freeway near Kunia. Public safety officials determined it was necessary to shut down a section of the freeway in both directions for much of the day. We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused by the accident. We understand that many people's lives were affected by the spill and we sincerely apologize.

"We are extremely thankful nobody was injured. We thank the Honolulu Police, city and federal firefighters, state Department of Transportation and our own personnel for their very professional and effective response to the accident, and will continue to work to clean up and restore the area."
