McCully pedestrian fatality identified

The medical examiner has identified Richard Tasaka of Honolulu as the pedestrian who died after being struck by a tour bus Friday night while walking in the McCully area.

Police said at the time of the incident that Tasaka, 63, was in a crosswalk about 7:30 p.m. when he was hit while trying to cross Beretania Street at McCully Street.

He was heading mauka when he was struck by a Roberts Hawaii bus making a left turn from McCully onto Beretania, police said.

Tasaka was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition and later died there.
