HAGATNA, Guam A medical vendor that says it is owed more than $500,000 has stopped supplying Guam Memorial Hospital.
Ben Manibusan is general manager of MidWest Medical Supplies. He says some of the hospitals debt is more than three years old.
Manibusan says his company wont release any more supplies until the hospital makes a payment of at least $21,000.
The company provides the hospital pharmaceuticals, intravenous solution and sanitary supplies.
Hospital board chairman Dan Webb says the hospital owes about $8.6 million to its vendors. He says about $5.2 million is more than 90 days past due.
Hospital spokesman Connor Murphy says the hospital faces several financial challenges, including a patient population where a quarter of patients are uninsured self-payers.
