Shaw M. Awber yesterday was sentenced to 20 years in prison for attempted murder and other crimes.
The sentence, handed down by Circuit Judge Karen Ahn, followed terms of a plea agreement reached between Awber and prosecutors.
Awber, 19, admitted firing multiple gunshots at a pickup truck carrying 11 young people on June 29, 2008, on Nimitz Highway near the airport. One of the people in the truck identified Awber as the shooter. No one was injured.
Awber, who also admitted being in a youth gang called the Outlaws, was 17 at the time of the shooting but Family Court waived jurisdiction in the case, allowing him to be tried as an adult.
Awber also pleaded guilty to multiple assault charges and other offenses.
