A judge yesterday sentenced Chris Brown to five years of probation and six months of community labor for the beating of Rihanna and ordered the R&B singer to stay away from his former girlfriend for the next five years. Brown will also undergo a year of domestic violence counseling.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge told Brown he could be sent to state prison if he violates any terms of his sentence, including the order to stay 100 yards away from Rihanna unless they're attending music industry events.

A probation report prepared for yesterday's sentencing described two violent incidents previous to the February beating; those incidents had not been publicly reported.

MILEY CYRUS' ALLEGED STALKER STUCK IN JAIL

TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. — A man charged with trying to stalk teen star Miley Cyrus told an investigator he planned on returning to her Georgia movie set and "finishing things," her security guard told a municipal court judge yesterday.

The judge refused to lower Mark McLeod's $55,200 bond and ruled there is sufficient evidence to send the case to trial. McLeod's defense attorney said the unemployed assistant plumber can't afford to make bond and will likely have to remain in jail. All the charges are misdemeanors.

Cyrus recently finished filming "The Last Song" on Tybee Island and in neighboring Savannah. Police say the 53-year-old McLeod came to the island twice in June and again this month asking where he could find the 16-year-old "Hannah Montana" star.

Police say McLeod told an officer he was engaged to Cyrus and that she sent him secret messages through her TV show after his first arrest June 22 on charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction of a police officer at the beachside site where filming was taking place.

WHO GUITARIST ROCKIN' ON AGING

LONDON — Pete Townshend once wrote "I hope I die before I get old."

Now the 64-year-old guitarist and songwriter for British rock band The Who says he is working on a new musical about aging.

Townshend says "Floss" will focus on a pub-rock musician and his troubled relationship with his wife. He says he wants to use the angry medium of rock 'n' roll to take on issues of aging and mortality facing baby boomers.

Songs from "Floss" will be part of a Who album due next year. Townshend said yesterday he is in talks with New York producers about staging the show in 2011.
