NFL: Seahawks’ Jones to undergo surgery

By Danny O’Neil
The Seattle Times

RENTON, Wash. — Seattle Seahawks left tackle Walter Jones will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee on Thursday morning.

The procedure comes after Jones left practice on Monday because of how his knee was feeling. A magnetic-resonance image (MRI) was taken, and the arthroscopic procedure scheduled to remedy potential scar tissue or loose bodies.
“We don’t think it’s anything significant,” coach Jim Mora said, “but we just want to make sure.”
Jones is coming back from microfracture surgery, which he underwent in December. Jones practiced the first day of training camp, but suffered back spasms on Day 3 and missed the next 12 days.
Jones did not play in the exhibition game Saturday, and left the field midway through the first practice this week.
“He just felt weird in his knee after about five or six snaps,” Mora said. “So he went in, and we got an MRI on it to be safe, and they’re going to do a ’scope tomorrow morning.”
Mora said he didn’t know a timeline of how long Jones would be out. It will depend on what is found during the procedure.
