MILWAUKEE — A German basketball team says one of its players, guard Lavelle Felton, was shot in the head at a gas station in his hometown of Milwaukee.
Felton, 29, played for Paderborn last season in Germany’s top league, Bundesliga. Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital spokeswoman Kim Wick said Felton was in critical condition Thursday.
Milwaukee police would not confirm the victim’s identity but said a 29-year-old was shot in the head driving away from a gas station around 2 a.m. Wednesday.
Police say a passenger in the vehicle ran to the station and reported that his cousin had been shot.
According to his management company, Court Side General Management and Representation, Felton has started at shooting guard and point guard in his European career. He’s also played in Greece, Turkey, Cyprus and France.
