A 30-year-old Waikiki man was arrested early this morning after his wife told police he tried to choke her in her car.
The wife, 35, said she went to sleep in her car following an argument with her husband because she did not want him to physically abuse her.
She said her husband found her sleeping in the car about 1 a.m. and assaulted her anyway.
The woman told police that at one point, her husband choked her with his hands and prevented her from breathing before releasing the choke hold.
Police were called to a home on Kuhio Avenue and arrested the husband without further incident on suspicion of abuse of a family or household member
