CBKB: Nevada's Ahyaro Phillips dismissed from team

RENO, Nev. — Nevada basketball coach David Carter has dismissed freshman forward Ahyaro Phillips from the team after he was arrested this week for alleged possession of a dangerous weapon on school property.
It marks the second time Phillips has been arrested in less than a year. He was suspended for several weeks at the start of the season in October when he and two other Wolf Pack players were charged with shoplifting at a sporting goods store in Sparks.
Carter said in a statement Friday the 6-foot-8 forward from New Orleans was given a second chance to follow team rules but unfortunately failed.
Phillips averaged about 2 points and 2.7 rebounds per game while averaging playing 9 minutes a game this past season.
