No April Fool's joke: College baseball game ends 49-1

Advertiser Staff

LEXINGTON, Ky. — Eastern Kentucky defeated Kentucky State 49-1 on Wednesday in a game shortened to five innings. The second game was canceled.

According to the NCAA, the game still fell short of the Division II record for lopsided victories. That was a 71-1 victory by St. Francis (Ill.) over Robert Morris in 1996.

Kentucky State committed 9 errors in the game. Coach Lamar Johnson says that was actually generous because there should have been more.
