"Leisure suits"? The term seems tailored to strike fear into the heart of those who remember the stiff polyester monstrosities of the '70s. But Perry Ellis designer John Crocco has turned out beach-bound versions on the runway at New York Fashion Week — loose drawstring pants and unstructured jackets, mixed with hoodie sweaters. Guess what? It seemed modern on a hip guy with a 5 o'clock shadow in a flared chino pant or unstructured sportcoat. These weren't clothes for Grandpa on the porch.

MASQUERADE MERRIMENT

SUPPORT HTY AT ANNUAL FUNDRAISER

The Honolulu Theatre for Youth's annual Le Masquerade fundraiser is themed "The Dream" to complement the company's fall production of "A Midsummer Night's Dream." The fundraiser is Oct. 25 at the Ko'olau Grand Ballroom of the Ko'olau Golf Club in Kane'ohe. "Dreamy evening" dress and costumes are encouraged for the "English Country Faire and Feast," with music and merriment courtesy of fortune tellers, magicians and tarot card readers. Tickets are $195 for individual guests ("Famous Faeries"), with sponsor tables also available. Call Virginie at HTY, 457-4255.
