Pigskin Picks winner Paul J. Harrison is happy that the team he was cheering for Sunday — Dallas — didn't win.
"Even though I had Arizona winning (on his Pigskin ballot), being a (Seattle) Seahawks fan, NFC West, I was actually rooting for Dallas," he said.
Thanks to Arizona's upset of Dallas — one of many last-second NFL outcomes — Harrison finished with a 14-1 record in Pigskin Picks. He was one of many to have 14-1 records but his tiebreaker differential earned him a trip for two to Las Vegas and $500.
Harrison, 35, a University of Washington graduate who works for HMSA, said once the St. Louis Rams upset Washington he said, "I thought I was done. ... Somebody out there must have had a 100 percent."
With that mindset, Harrison began cheering for the Cowboys and against the Cardinals, an NFC West rival of his favorite team, the Seahawks.
Harrison said he picked mostly home teams on his ballot, with exception of the Philadelphia at San Francisco and Green Bay at Seattle games.
"My Seattle team is horrible this year," he said. "That's why I was rooting against the NFC West (teams) again."
Harrison said he has little "experience" with Las Vegas. "I was only there for one night (around 1995). It was for someone's wedding," he said.
"But that one brief time I was there I loved it. If I'm lucky, it's about time to go back and win some money."
