Kauai shooting victim identified

Advertiser Staff

Kaua'i County officials have identified the victim of a Sunday shooting incident in Lihu'e as Antonio Torres, 43.

Torres' name had been withheld by authorities pending notification of relatives.

Police arrested Payton Allen Rapozo, 22, on suspicion of second-degree murder following the 2:50 p.m. shooting in the garage at Torres' Kawaihau Road home in Kapahi, authorities said. Rapozo was arrested at the scene. Torres was reportedly the boyfriend of Rapozo's mother. The shooting was the result of an argument between the two men, said Kaua'i Police Chief Darryl Perry.

Police recovered a .22-caliber revolver that's believed to be the murder weapon, Perry said.
