Makapuu Trail hike planned for people, pets

Advertiser Staff

At 8 a.m. Saturday, the Hawaiian Humane Society will hold an inaugural hike at the recently re-opened Makapu'u trail.

As part of this inauguration, the Humane Society will unveil new trail signs installed by the state Department of Land and Naturalization.

The hike also coincides with the Hawaiian Humane Society's Love-A-Dog month and is a great way to celebrate the success of community-driven change, Humane Society officials said.

The hike will begin following brief remarks by the Hawaiian Humane Society officials and recognition of Dan Quinn, Administrator for DLNR, the Hawaii Kai Neighborhood Board and the broader community for making the trail accessible again to people and their pets.
