'Tis the season for Crafts
This is the biggest shopping weekend of the year, even in a difficult economy. If packed shopping centers aren't your thing, maybe the many craft fairs of the season will attract you.
Among the weekend's major affairs (admission is free unless noted):
Winter Craft Fair, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Hawaii Okinawa Center in Waipi'o. Expect a lot of people. Bring nonperishable donations for the Hawaii Food Bank, too. 676-5400.
Holiday Craft Fair, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. today and tomorrow at the Mission Houses Museum. Expect quilts, koa bowls, clothing, soaps and more; entertainment and food, too. 531-0481.
A Christmas Fantasy, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. today, tomorrow, Thursday and Dec. 5-7 at Gallery 'Iolani, Windward Community College. Students and community members offer prints, paintings, jewelry, greeting cards, baskets and more. 236-9155.
Islandwide Christmas Crafts and Food Expo, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. today and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. tomorrow at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall. Hope you like crowds, because this is where a massive amount of shoppers will be. Admission: $3 general, free for those 12 and younger. 623-4050.
EMPHASIS ON THE ARTS
World Art Bazaar, opening 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. today and continuing 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sundays, through Dec. 14 at Honolulu Academy of Arts' Art Center at Linekona. A true around-the-world shopping adventure. 532-8703.
Impressions Print Sale, noon-4:30 p.m. today and 10 a.m.-4:30 p.m. tomorrow, also at Linekona. Honolulu Printmakers offer woodcuts, etchings, serigraphs and lithographs. Suitable for framing. 536-5507.
Hawaii Craftsmen Gallery Sale, 11 a.m. daily through Tuesday at The ARTS at Marks Garage. Items big and small made by artists who live in Hawai'i. 521-3282.
