After Saturday's game, the next time the University of Hawai'i and Washington State football teams meet in their series could be at the home of the Seattle Seahawks, officials from both schools say.

UH's Sept. 12, 2009 game with Washington State is scheduled for Pullman, Wash., but there are talks about moving the game 288 miles west to Qwest Field in Seattle, the Seahawks' 67,000-seat home.

"No decision yet ... but it is under consideration," according to Rod Commons, a WSU spokesman. He said the Cougars still have one game to fill on their 2009 schedule and will make a determination after that game is finalized.

Since 2002 the Cougars have annually played a sponsored non-conference game in Seattle, known as the Cougar Gridiron Classic, to reach out to alumni, sponsors and prospective recruits in the western part of the state.

Previous opponents have included Oklahoma State, Colorado, Grambling and Baylor.

UH athletic director Jim Donovan said he is in favor of such a game because of the number of UH alumni and former Hawai'i residents in the Seattle-Tacoma area. There are more than 50,000 former Hawai'i residents estimated to be living in Washington.

UH has occasionally recruited in Washington. This year's roster includes linebackers Adam Leonard (Seattle) and Tyson Kafentzis (Richland), cornerback Jamell Dowling (Tacoma) and running back Leon Wright-Jackson (Pasco).

UH is scheduled to play the University of Washington in 2011 at Husky Stadium.
