Brushfire's smoldering remnants doused down
Maui fire officials reported a single flare-up yesterday of a brushfire that had burned an estimated 1,000 acres.
The fire began around noon Tuesday, at one point threatening the Four Seasons Resort-Lana'i at Manele Bay and neighboring homes. About 600 people were evacuated from the area before being allowed to return late Tuesday afternoon. No structures burned.
Yesterday, two helicopters dropped water on hot spots to assist firefighters in mop-up operations. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
