The Honolulu Fire Department tonight prevented a 19th-floor fire in a storage closet at Ilikai Yacht Harbor Tower from spreading and declared the incident under control at 7:37 p.m.
Fire Capt. Robert Main said the closet is used by housekeeping personnel and the sprinkler system in the room kept the fire under control. Firefighters responded to 1777 Ala Moana at 6:59 p.m.
There were some problems getting water into the hotel's dry standpipe system, Main said.
No injuries were reported and cause of the fire is under investigation, Main said.
