UH women lose 62-50 to Arizona

The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team closed out the Bank of Hawaii Invitational with a 62-50 loss to Arizona yesterday at UHH gym in Hilo.
Megan Tinnin had 11 points and three steals for Hawai'i (0-3). All-tournament honoree Keisha Kanekoa added eight points and eight assists, and Sarah Ilic had nine points and four rebounds.
The Rainbow Wahine got within 52-48 with just over three minutes left, but that's as close as they would get against Arizona. Amin Njonkou had 16 points, and Beatrice Bofia added 14 points and 17 rebounds for the Wildcats.
In the other games, Loyola Marymount beat Toledo, 81-74, and UH-Hilo defeated Chaminade, 87-56, in a Division II game.
Jessica Hanato had 16 points and 10 rebounds for UH-Hilo (2-0). Hina Kimitete added 16 points, Eileen Pineda 12 points, Kayce Kirihara 10 points and Mana Camara 12 rebounds.
Samantha Saito led Chaminade (0-2) with 21 points, and Felicia Alves added 18 points and 13 rebounds.
Arizona, Loyola Marymount and Toledo all finished the season-opening tournament at 2-1.
The Rainbow Wahine take a week off before hosting the six-team, three-day Waikiki Beach Marriott Classic, beginning Nov. 28 at the Stan Sheriff Center.

BIG ISLAND'S CISNEROS DEFEATED IN MAIN EVENT
Kalib Starnes of Canada defeated Chris Cisneros of the Big Island in the main event of the Destiny: Pier Fighter 1 mixed martial arts card Saturday at Aloha Tower.
Starnes, who is from Vancouver, British Columbia, won it with an armbar submission in the second round.
Cisneros was a last-minute replacement in the main event.
On Thursday, Wai'anae's Kala Kolohe Hose withdrew from the bout with Starnes due to a contract issue. Maui's Dylan Clay was first announced as the replacement, but Cisneros accepted the bout Friday.
Starnes is a former contestant on "The Ultimate Fighter" television series.
In the semi-main event, Wai'anae's Yancy Medeiros upset Hilo's Po'ai Suganuma via third-round TKO.
HONOLULU MARATHON
JAPANESE TRANSLATORS NEEDED FOR DEC. 14 RACE
The Honolulu Marathon needs 100 to 150 Japanese translators for the 13 course medical aid stations planned for the Dec. 14 race.
Volunteer shifts are as follows: all day (4 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.), early morning (4 to 9:30 a.m.), or late morning (9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.).
All volunteers will receive a Honolulu Marathon volunteer T-shirt and hat.
