NFL: Niners WR Battle out with foot sprain

Associated Press

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Receiver Arnaz Battle will miss the San Francisco 49ers' game at Arizona on Monday night with a sprained right foot.

Battle, the 49ers' second-leading receiver with 24 catches for 318 yards, has played in 42 consecutive games. The six-year veteran also occasionally returns kickoffs and punts while serving as San Francisco's No. 3 receiver in most offensive sets.

Jason Hill, rookie Josh Morgan and Bryant Johnson all are likely to get more playing time in Battle's absence. Johnson spent his entire NFL career with the Cardinals before joining San Francisco this season, but was recently passed by Morgan for a starting spot.

Safety Dashon Goldson also will miss his second straight game with a knee injury, and starting right tackle Barry Sims will be out for at least another week with a sprained left ankle. Jonas Jennings might be ready to return from a six-game absence with a separated shoulder to replace Sims.
