UH alum Soero advances to second stage of PGA Q-School

University of Hawai'i alum Pierre-Henri Soero rocketed up the leaderboard with a final-round 7-under 65 at Palm City, Fla., today to finish in a tie for 12th and advance to the second stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School.

Soero, who started the day in tie for 30th, finished with a four-round total of 3-under 281 at the Martin Downs Country Club. The top 24 finishers earned berths in the next stage later this month.

Three other golfers with Hawai'i ties failed to advance. Casey Watabu shot 70—282 to tie for 30th and Jim Seki shot 75—285 to tie for 45th at Hollister, Calif. Matt Kodama shot 72—294 to tie for 33rd at Santee, Calif.
