Elmo and friends return to Blaisdell

By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Entertainment Writer

"Elmo! Ready for Action," a Sesame Street live production, brings all the favorites from the fabled street to the Blaisdell Concert Hall for a run from June 13 through 22.

In this latest visit to Sesame Street, Super Grover needs help — he loses his superness — and Elmo and the Fabulous Five will come to the rescue.

The production, from VEE Corp., assembles Elmo and his Muppet pals Zoe, Rosita, the Telly Monster and even Zoe's pet rock Rocco, among others, for family fun and adventure. As most Sesame Street teach lessons to life to the wee set, this one offers advice on healthy habits through musical productions, with tips on exercise, nutrition, the value of sleep and hygiene, all in the name of revving up Super Grover to his peak.

The show embraces some familiar tunes, like "Old MacDonald," "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and "Splish Splash," amid Broadway-quality staging.

And yes, the time-tested Sesame Street regulars are also aboard — Big Bird, Bert and Ernie, Oscar, Cookie Monster, Count Von Count, Baby Bear, Prairie Dawn, Roxy Marie, Lulu and Honker.

Curtain times: 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. June 13; 10:30 a.m., 2 and 5:30 p.m. June 14; 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. June 15; 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. June 19 and 20; and 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. June 21 and 22.
