"Wowowee" host Willie Revillame signed a poster for a fan at yesterday's news conference at the Waikiki Marriott. When the No. 1 game show in the Philippines considered places to tape a two-hour international special, Revillame said Hawai'i "was a natural choice."

Hundreds of people paid $100 each to attend a VIP party to meet cast members of the "Wowowee" television show last night, but left angry when no one from the production showed up and no money was refunded.

The event was set for the Rumours nightclub at the Ala Moana Hotel and drew between 250 and 300 fans of the popular variety and game show from the Philippines, according to people who attended the event. "Wowowee" is scheduled to appear tomorrow night at the Aloha Stadium.

A pre-show "meet and greet" event was to be held last night and tickets were sold in advance as well as at the door. Jason Fernandez of 'Ewa Beach said he and his wife brought their daughter to the club and paid $300 for the VIP bash because they're big fans of the show.

Fernandez said people were lined up for the party by 5 p.m. and he estimated that nearly 300 people eventually crowded into the nightclub. But as the evening went on, no one from "Wowowee" showed up and people began to worry.

By 10:30 p.m. the fans realized that the party wouldn't happen. Fernandez said many were confused because none of the four people who were collecting tickets and money stayed behind to explain what had happened.

A spokeswoman for the show's producer said the incident is under investigation.
