Fujikawa struggles to 74, falls 12 strokes behind The Crowns leader

A day after making his first cut in a major tour golf event, Hawai'i's Tadd Fujikawa found the going tough during the third round of the Japan Golf Tour's The Crowns tournament Saturday at Aichi, Japan.
The 17-year-old Moanalua High School junior had seven bogeys and three birdies to shoot a 4-over-par 74. He was at 4-over 214 for three rounds. Hawai'i's Greg Meyer, a tour pro, shot a 71 and also was at 214.
Royken Kawagishi fired a 2-under 68 Saturday and was the third-round leader at 8-under 202, two strokes ahead of Tomohiro Kondo (64) and Hiroyuki Fujita (68).
On Saturday, Fujikawa bogeyed the par-4 No. 3, but went back to even par with a birdie on the par-4 No. 5. But he bogeyed Nos. 6, 7 and 9 to make the turn at 3-over 38. On the back nine, he had bogeys at Nos. 10, 13 and 15 and birdies on Nos. 12 and 16.
Fujikawa won the Mid-Pacific Open 13 days ago for his first victory as a professional. It was the first time he made a cut since turning pro last July.
