Advertiser Staff

'Iolani will play in the ninth annual National High School All-American Foundation Boys Team Tennis Tournament. The Red Raiders are one of 16 teams invited from across the country.

The tournament will be March 28 and 29 in Newport Beach, Calif. Teams play two matches a day over two days. Each features six singles and three doubles matches. The Newport Beach, Costa Mesa Tennis and Balboa Bay Clubs, and Corona del Mar High School are the sites.

Teams were invited based on criteria, including success against regional competition, USTA national rankings of individual players and results of players in USTA national play, and historical success of teams locally.

Last year in Cincinnati, Sacred Heart Preparatory of Atherton, Calif., defeated Dr. Michael Krop High School of Miami,, 6-3, in the championship.

Through the years, the tournament has featured some of the best junior talent in the country, including former U.S. Davis Cup and Olympic team member Taylor Dent.
