DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — U.S. Solheim Cup captain Beth Daniel has selected Meg Mallon and Kelly Robbins as her assistants for the 2009 matches outside Chicago, where the Americans will try to win for the third straight time.
Mallon and Robbins, both major champions, have combined to play in 14 Solheim Cups. Mallon has a 13-9-7 record, and she is tied with Juli Inkster for most career points.
"Not only are they good friends of mine, but they collectively have 14 years of Solheim Cup experience, which I will lean very heavily on," Daniel said. "Since being named captain, this is the most excited I've been about The Solheim Cup. This means things are starting to get rolling; I have my team in place and we're ready to go."
