Marine artist Wyland announces final mural

NORTH LAUDERDALE (AP) — The marine artist Wyland says he'll paint his 100th and final mural in Beijing.

The artist, who goes only by one name, made the announcement today in North Lauderdale, Fla. where he was painting his 99th mural. Wyland has been painting seascapes on buildings for almost 30 years. He's known for his lifelike renderings of marinelife such as whales and dolphins as well as his conservation efforts.

Wyland painted his first so-called Whaling Wall in 1981 in Laguna Beach, Calif. He has been all over the United States to paint in places including Florida and Hawaii. He's also painted walls in other parts of the world including Canada, Japan and Australia.
