'Laughs for Lions' set for Aug. 9 at Mamiya

"Laughs for Lions," a comedy bill with stand-up performances, food and a celebrity raffle and auction, will be held Aug. 9 at Mamiya Theatre at Saint Louis School.
The third annual event, sponsored by the Kamehameha Lions Club Foundation, hopes to raise $50,000 for Lions Club service projects for the blind and disabled and youth scholarships.
Tickets are $40 general and $75 VIP seating and includes the pre-show festivities.
Performers include Steve Byrne, a Korean-Irish comedian; Jim Gossett, known as the man with a thousand impressions; The Great Balconi, a comedy mentalist; the Amazing Alan Arita; and Abe and Franklin.
Showtime is 7:45 p.m., preceded by a 5:30 p.m. food, beverage and raffle on the theater's front plaza.
The raffle and auction will feature more than $10,000 worth of wardrobe, props and collectibles from such films as "Star Trek," "Harry Potter," "Memoirs of a Geisha" and "Chicago," and celebrity items from Michael Jordan, Adam Sandler, Hillary Swank, Richard Gere, Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Sharon Stone and others.
