PEARL HARBOR
Battleship Missouri Radio Club ready for marathon

The Battleship Missouri Amateur Radio Club will connect with other historic vessels around the world during the annual worldwide Museum Ships Weekend amateur radio ("ham") marathon this weekend.

Members of the Battleship Missouri's amateur radio club, call sign KH6BB, will take shifts manning their headquarters in "Radio Central," the principal radio compartment on the main deck of the Missouri. The KH6BB station averages nearly 1,000 contacts with other museum ships during the marathon each year and has previously reached ships as far away as Russia and Africa.

The marathon runs from tomorrow (Friday) to Sunday afternoon, during which amateur radio operators around the world will attempt to contact as many participating museum ships as possible. More than 60 museum ships, including battleships, destroyers, submarines and aircraft carriers, are expected to participate.

For more information about Radio Central and KH6BB, visit the group's Web site at www.kh6bb.org.
