Forty acres scorched in Kauai brushfire

A Kauai brushfire burned about 40 acres in Anahola this afternoon. No one was injured and no homes were threatened.

The fire broke out at around 1:45 pm near Kukuihale Rd. below the site of a new Department of Hawaiian Home Lands subdivision.

Eleven firefighters from the Kapaa, Lihue and Kalaheo stations and Battalion Chief Teddy Williams responded. Air-1 also assisted.

The fire was under control at 3:30 pm.

Firefighters remained putting out hotspots.
