Honolulu's Clay Stanley had a match-high 21 kills to lead the United States men's national team to a 25-23, 25-22, 29-31, 20-25, 18-16 victory over Spain in World League volleyball in Madrid.

The U.S. men are 6-1 and lead their World League pool. Spain, is 3-4.

Stanley, a Kaiser High and University of Hawai'i alum, also had two blocks.

The United States and Spain play again Sunday.

The U.S. women's national team defeated Poland, 20-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-10, to improve to 6-1 in the World Grand Prix pool play at Chinese Taipei. The U.S. plays Turkey tomorrow.

UH alum Kim Willoughby had 12 kills and Heather Bown six for the U.S., while Honolulu's Robyn Ah Mow-Santos and Lindsey Berg shared setting duties.
