National Geographic's inspiring image gallery of the New 7 Wonders of the World was the organization's most popular online gallery in 2007. The images of the New 7 Wonders of the World (in the order they are shown on www.nationalgeographic.com: the statue of Christ Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, the Great Wall of China, the Colosseum, Petra, Machu Picchu, Chichen Itza and the Taj Mahal) are followed by the Ancient Wonders.

Geographic reports the site beat out monster fish, weird deep-sea creatures, a giant crystal cave, a collection of the best science images of the year, mummified dinosaurs and miniature tigers called toygers. Immerse yourself in wonder at www.news.nationalgeographic.com.

The $500 million building, designed by the Pritzker Prize winner Renzo Piano, will feature a 2.5-acre living roof covered with native plants and aims to be the greenest museum in the world. www.calacademy.org.
