TV chef Bourdain experiences Island Spam

What will irreverent TV chef Anthony Bourdain have to say about Spam and Hawai'i's preoccupation with it? We're about to find out. Last December, Bourdain, guided by local food writer David K. Choo ("Lunch Break Honolulu"), consumed a six-course Spam-centric menu at New Uptown Fountain in Liliha and lived to film about it. The episode airs at 8 p.m. March 3 on "Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations" on the Travel Channel.
Choo, best known for his dining reviews in Hawaii Business magazine and the now defunct Downtown Planet, said in a prepared statement: "A lot of people are worried about how Hawai'i and Spam will fare during the episode, but I think we're going to do OK."
"The reason for my optimism is that he really liked the stuff. He ate all his Spam musubi and then he ate my leftovers," Choo said.
