Roberts Hawaii has appointed Micah Chinen to product marketing and sales manager, transportation. Chinen will be responsible for developing and implementing an annual marketing plan to increase transportation sales through promotions and services. He also will be responsible for acquiring new accounts and maintaining existing accounts for assigned sales territories.
He joined Roberts Hawaii in March 2007 and brings seven years of retail management and sales experience to the company. Chinen received his associate's degree from Kapi'olani Community College.
Roberts Hawaii has served the Islands for more than 65 years and is the largest private Hawai'i company co-owned by employees, as well as the state's largest privately owned tour and transportation company.
ISLAND INSURANCE COMPANY LTD.
Island Insurance Company Ltd., the state's largest locally owned and managed property and casualty insurance carrier, has appointed Sharon Ohata as director of training and development. Ohata will be responsible for the design, development and implementation of company-wide employee training programs.
She was previously vice president of claims consulting services at Atlas Insurance Agency, where she was responsible for the design and implementation of claims management and educational programs for various clients. She also served as vice president of the Workers' Compensation Department at John Mullen and Company, where she was involved in the creation of new self-insured and captive insurers.
