Big surf expected today on Oahu's north, west shores

Advertiser Staff

Surf along north-facing shores will be increasing to 6 feet to 10 feet this morning and could reach 14 feet to 18 feet later this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Elsewhere look for surf of 3 feet to 5 feet along east-facing shores, 8 feet to 12 feet by late this afternoon along west-facing shores and 1 foot to 3 feet along south-facing shores with some possibly higher sets along southeast- and southwest-facing beaches throughout today.

The current northwest swell will peak tonight and Friday then gradually subside through the weekend.

Another potentially even larger northwest swell is expected early next week.
