Hawaii No. 7 in final volleyball poll

The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team was ranked No. 7 in the final Bison/American Volleyball Coaches Association poll released yesterday.
It was UH's highest final ranking since finishing at No. 3 in 2003.
National champion Penn State, which received all 60 first-place votes, finished at No. 1, followed by runner-up Stanford, Nebraska, Texas and Washington.
The Rainbow Wahine (31-4) lost to Stanford in an NCAA regional final.
BASKETBALL
BYUH MEN NO. 12
The Brigham Young-Hawai'i men's basketball team fell six spots to No. 12 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II poll released yesterday.
Findlay (Ohio) is ranked No. 1, followed by South Carolina Aiken, Southwest Baptist (Mo.), Gannon (Pa.) and Arkansas-Monticello.
BYUH (5-1) lost to Washburn (Kan.), 75-68, on Dec. 17 before defeating Drury (Mo.), 83-62, and Menlo (Calif.), 85-52.
The Seasiders play Hillsdale (Mich.) tonight. BYUH will open Pacific West Conference play Jan. 6 against UH-Hilo in La'ie.
FOOTBALL
FROM BALDWIN TO WSU
Baldwin High senior Jordan Pu'u-Robinson has made a verbal commitment to play football for Washington State, according to Doris Sullivan, director of the Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance scholarship-assisting service.
Sullivan said Pu'u-Robinson, a tight end/defensive end who was listed at 6 feet 4, 255 pounds this season, also received scholarship offers from Utah State and Idaho.
