MAKAKILO
Easter Seals gets grant for West Oahu facility

Easter Seals Hawai'i recently received a $250,000 grant from the McInerny Foundation to help construction of Napuakea, it's new West O'ahu service center, that is scheduled to open late next summer in Makakilo.

Nordic Construction Ltd. recently began construction on the $8 million, 20,000-square-foot facility, Easter Seals officials said.

Napuakea will support and serve infants, children, youth and young adults with disabilities and their families.

The population growth in West O'ahu spurred East Seals to develop the facility in the region for the benefit of under-served communities. Among the services Napuakea will offer are early intervention services for newly born infants and toddlers up to age 3, youth services, occupational, physical and speech therapies and adult health services, including workforce development.
