					 Three National Endowment of the Arts grants have been awarded in Hawai'i's 2nd Congressional District.
				
			
			
			
				
					The Maui Arts & Cultural Center received two of the federal grants.
				
			
			
			
				
					It received an NEA grant of $45,000 for a series of performances and related outreach and residency activities by Hawaiian performers Sonny Ching and Keali'i Reichel.
				
			
			
			
				
					MACC is also receiving $40,000 to support the program Telling Our Stories: The Past is Our Future.
				
			
			
			
				
					The culture and arts enrichment program Hawai'i's Volcano Circus, on the Big Island, will receive $10,000 from the NEA to support the Puna Performing Arts Festival.
				
			
			
			
				
					 Kailua Sailboards & Kayaks has donated $5,000 to the Hawai'i chapter of the Wildlife Society. The money will be used specifically to help preserve the ecosystems in Kailua Bay and the Mokulua Islands.
				
			
			
			
				
					Kailua Sailboards & Kayaks is a company that has specialized in kayaking, windsurfing and watersports since 1982.
				
			
			
			
				
					 The First Hawaiian Bank Foundation has donated $100,000 to the Shriners Hospitals for Children capital campaign to replace the existing Punahou Street facility with a new $73 million hospital. The bank's foundation is among the first corporate foundations to step forward to help the Shriners in reaching $9.1 million to date of its $14 million goal.
				
			
			
			
				
					 The McKinley High School Foundation has awarded scholarships to 54 of its 2008 graduates totaling $78,250, the largest amount awarded since the scholarship program's inception in 1990. Scholarships were given based on academic achievement, community service and financial need.
