Learn what's new in quilting, sewing

The 14th Annual Original Creative Festival will feature some of the latest trends in sewing, embroidery, quilting and other crafty pursuits.

The event, under way from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall, offers seminars, demonstrations, displays and more. Guest instructors include Nancy Goldsworthy of Nine Patch Quilting and Keri Designs, Connie Spurlock of Sew Wonderful Dreams, and Debora Konchinsky of Critter Pattern Works, among others. Festival-goers are invited to help make rag dolls — 1 to 3 this afternoon, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., tomorrow — that will be sent to orphanages in South Africa by The Sew Dollightful Cloth Doll Club.

Admission is $6; free for children 16 and younger.
