Help city set Lei Day record

The city is seeking donations of flower lei in an attempt to set a Guinness World Record in time for Lei Day tomorrow.
Donated lei may be dropped off today at Kapi'olani Park near the tennis courts from 1 to 6 p.m.; Honolulu Hale from 9 a.m. to noon; and Kapolei Hale from 9 a.m. to noon.
Lei also may be brought tomorrow from 7 to 8:30 a.m. to the Kapi'olani Park tennis courts.
All lei must be 3 feet long with 6 inches of string on both ends.
LEI DAY SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Festivities will take place from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. tomorrow at Kapi'olani Park. All events are free and open to the public.
9-9:50 a.m.: Royal Hawaiian Band
10 a.m.-noon: Investiture ceremony for the 2008 Lei Queen and court; presentation of the Guinness World Record for the World's Longest Fresh Floral/Greenery Lei (approximately 11:15 a.m.); official opening of the Lei Contest Exhibit by the 2008 Lei Queen and court (approximately noon).
Noon-12:50 p.m.: Makaha Sons
1-1:50 p.m.: Na Wahine O Ka Hula Mai Ka Pu'uwai
2-2:50 p.m.: Hula Halau Na 'Opio O Ko'olau
3-3:50 p.m.: Kapena
4-5:30 p.m.: Halau Hula 'O Hokulani
The Hawaiian Steel Guitar Association will play from 2 to 4 p.m. in the lei exhibit/ho'olaule'a area (open area between the bandstand and the shell). There will also be a ho'olaule'a of Hawaiian craft exhibits and demonstrations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and craft, lei and food vendors in the park all day.
