Statewide average gas price hits record $3.78 a gallon

Hawaii gas prices continued their record-breaking ascent today, hitting an average record $3.78 statewide, according to AAA Hawaii.
That was up three cents a gallon from a week ago and up 63 cents from a year ago. Around the state, the average was $3.68 in Honolulu, $3.80 in Hilo and $4.10 in Wailuku. All the prices were records for the areas. The AAA doesn't report gas prices from Kaua'i, Lana'i or Moloka'i.
Hawai'i's average gas price was the third-highest in the nation behind No. 1 California at $3.89 a gallon and No. 2 Alaska at $3.80 a gallon.
Nationally, the average price for a gallon of regular hit a record high $3.58.
