UH football festival April 26

The University of Hawai'i football team will host an 'Ohana Festival prior to the team's final spring practice April 26 at Aloha Stadium.

The event will be held from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Parking and admission are free.

Fans should enter the parking lot through the main entrance on Salt Lake Boulevard and the stadium through Gate 4. The parking lot will open at 4 and the stadium at 5.

The first 4,000 fans will receive a free copy of the 2008 Allstate Sugar Bowl commemorative poster.

There will be free contests and activities available on the south concourse, including jump castles from Xtreme Fun Rentals and assorted games.

Prizes will be awarded, including promotional items from UH Corporate Partners and free tickets to UH sporting events. Concession and merchandise stands will be open and there will be live entertainment.

"This is an opportunity for the entire community to come together and celebrate Warrior football," said UH head coach Greg McMackin. "We want to show our appreciation to our fans by treating them to a fun-filled evening at Aloha Stadium."

ROSE, KLANESKI AT CLINIC

Former Harvard quarterback Neil Rose and former University of Hawai'i defensive back Eddie Klaneski will head a football clinic, starting April 20 at Ala Puumalu District Park (1575 Ala Puumalu St.).

The clinics, which also feature Jacob Yoro (linebackers) and Randyn Akiona (receivers), will teach various skills for quarterbacks, wide receivers, defensive backs and linebackers.

Clinics are for those ages 6 to 18 and will be held April 20, 27, May 4 and 18 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

Instructions will cover, but will not be limited to:

  • Proper warm up, cool down and stretching techniques;

  • QB/center exchange, shotgun and 3-step and 5-step drops;

  • Basic route running and scramble drill;

  • Coverage concepts;

  • Man-to-man & zone drops;

  • Tackling basics;

  • Block protection;
