Maui talk to focus on solar eclipses, sun's secrets

Shadia Rifai Habbal of the University of Hawai'i Institute for Astronomy will discuss "Total Solar Eclipses and the Secrets of the Sun" at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Maikalani building in Pukalani. Her free talk is the latest in the Maui Maikalani Community Lecture series, sponsored by the astronomy institute.

Habbal will present key discoveries made during total solar eclipses and highlight findings from the 2006 eclipse studied by UH astronomers in the Sahara Desert in Libya.

Maikalani, also known as the Advanced Technology Research Center, is located at 34 'Ohi'a Ku St., above Kamehameha Schools in the Kulamalu Town Center.
