Hawaiian Telcom Internet users now can access the Internet wirelessly from more than 100 "hot spots" around the state.
The wi-fi service, which is free for Hawaiian Telcom high-speed Internet subscribers, is offered in partnership with Skywave Broadband Inc. and is available at HT Spots in Ala Moana Center, Restaurant Row, Downtown Honolulu and all Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Hawaii locations.
The service also is available in Kailua, Hawai'i Kai, Manoa, 'Ewa Beach and Pearl City, as well as Kapa'a on Kaua'i, Kona and Hilo on the Big Island, and Kahului on Maui.
"Mobility is a highly desired element for our high-speed customers," said Michael Fry, Hawaiian Telcom senior Internet product manager. "This enhancement provides them with the freedom and flexibility to connect to the Internet when they're out on the go. It also increases the value of our service and strengthens customer loyalty."
Hawaiian Telcom joins Oceanic Time Warner Cable in offering free wireless Internet service to existing customers. Oceanic Road Runner customers can access the Internet from more than 40 Speed Zones, primarily on O'ahu. Both companies said they plan to roll out more hot spots in the future.
