A 53-year-old motorcyclist was killed last night when his bike hit a freeway guardrail near Aloha Stadium.
The accident occurred shortly before 9 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the H-1 Freeway, police said. The motorcyclist was thrown from his bike and landed on the medial strip of the freeway.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene, said EMS spokesman Bryan Cheplic.
Police last night did not know if speed or alcohol were factors in the accident.
The accident forced the closure of two freeway ramps in the area of the stadium, just as the University of Hawai'i football game was ending. However, it did not appear to have any major effect on traffic flow after the game.
Roads closed while police investigated the accident last night were the entrance to the H-1 eastbound from Aloha Stadium and the eastbound extension of the H-1 leading to Moanalua Freeway.
