What are you most proud of? "Our academic progress," said Kaumana Elementary School Principal Lloyd Matsunami. "Meeting the Annual Yearly Progress under the No Child Left Behind Act for the past four years; also, receiving our new computer lab that was donated by the Pohakuloa Training Area."
What is your biggest challenge? "Maintaining the current level of student support and continuing to meet the Annual Yearly Progress in times of increasing expectations and decreasing budgets," Matsunami said.

History: Kaumana Elementary School began as a one-room schoolhouse in 1904. Two years later, the Territory of Hawai'i accepted the completion of the school. Sugar cane was the primary industry in the community.
