Advertiser Staff
The Japanese Cultural Center will hold a book-launch party Saturday for "Life Behind Barbed Wire."
The book is a firsthand account of life in Japanese internment camps. Yasutaro Soga, one of several hundred Hawai'i Japanese who was detained after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, chronicles his four years in four different detainment camps.
The book was originally published in Japanese in 1945. Soga entered the camps when he was 68.
The book launch will run from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Admission to the event in the first-floor gallery is free.
The book costs $21 for center members, or $25 for nonmembers. For more information, go to www.jcch.com or call 945-7663.
