David Ishii, Pearl Country Club's Director of Golf, took 12th at last week's Kinojo Senior Open, in Okayama, Japan. Ishii, 52, shot 70-72-70 in the last senior event of the year, finishing at 4-under 212.

Chip Beck defeated Katsunari Takahashi on the first playoff hole to win the title. Both were at 9-under par.

ELSEWHERE

  • Entries are being accepted for the final Hawai'i State Women's Golf Association tournament of the year, the inaugural Wahine O' Hawai'i Kai Open, Dec. 3 and 4. Applications are at www.hswga.org and www.808golf.com.

  • The Hawai'i State Women's Golf Foundation recently announced travel scholarships awarded in 2007. Grants ranged from $500 to $1,000 and totalled $7,900. They were given to: Cyd Okino (USGA Junior Girls); Miki Ueoka, Summer Mizusawa, Mari Chun, Kristina Merkle and Xyra Suyetsugu (USGA Women's Public Links); Mari Chun and Anna Jang (USGA Women's Amateur); Barbara Millslage (USGA Senior Women's Championship); and, Hayley Young, Nicole Sakamoto and Hee Sue Condry (USGA Women's Team Championship).
