Maui selects environmental unit deputy

Gregg Kresge has been named deputy director of Maui County's new Department of Environmental Management.

Kresge has a master's of science degree in environmental management from the University of San Francisco and a bachelor of arts degree in economics and communications from the University of California, Davis. He has worked as an environmental planner for the Northern Marianas government and as an environmental consultant and investigator on environmental safety issues and PCB contamination detection and mitigation.

Kresge most recently worked on the Kaho'olawe Island Clean-up Project as the assistant environment and natural resources manager/senior scientist for Parsons Infrastructure and Technology on Maui. Part of his duties included supervision of compliance with federal, state, county and Navy storage and disposal regulations for hazardous materials, solid and hazardous waste and recyclable materials.
