News anchor Joe Moore will dust off his courtroom drama "Prophecy and Honor" to reprise the role of aviation pioneer Gen. Billy Mitchell this August as a benefit for the Pacific Aviation Museum, and he's bringing a well-known actor in to help.

His co-star in the play about the court-martial of Mitchell, which addresses military incompetency, will be George Segal, a film, stage and television veteran.

Segal starred in the Golden Globe-nominated NBC comedy "Just Shoot Me" from 1997 to 2003, and he was nominated for an Oscar for his role as Nick in 1966's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"

The actor will portray Col. Moreland, the pompous prosecutor of Mitchell's military trial.

"This year's 60th anniversary of the U.S. Air Force prompted me to revisit the script, and when I did, I got excited about polishing and reviving it," said Moore, who has long presided over Hawai'i's top-rated news show on KHON, the local Fox affiliate.

"It's such a compelling story, and relevant to what's happening in the world today," he said. "For casting, I went after the people I wanted to work with, and George Segal struck me as ideal for the role of Moreland. I'm thrilled he likes the play and the part enough to join us."

Moore premiered the play in 1993 at the Diamond Head Theatre, with Pat Sajak, the "Wheel of Fortune" TV show host and his one-time Army buddy, as co-star. His other past endeavors have included works on Will Rogers, John Wayne and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

The revival of "Prophecy" will be directed by Glenn Cannon, the veteran UH director-actor who starred on "Hawaii Five-O." The cast includes other locally and nationally known names: Terence Knapp, professor emeritus at the University of Hawai'i; James MacArthur, forever known as "Danno" on "Five-O;" Kaimuki High graduate Don Stroud, who starred in scores of Hollywood films and has since moved back to the Islands; comedian Frank De Lima; and budding Island actor Dezmond Gilla, who is pursuing a career in Los Angeles, and will return home for this production.

Teresa Moore, Moore's wife, will make her stage debut in "Prophecy," as Billy Mitchell's wife.

"She's had some modeling experience, and we've talked about doing something together," Moore said of her decision to get aboard.

The Pacific Aviation Museum, at Pearl Harbor, is presenting the production.
